We are ready for the elections, Nigeria Army declares
Nigeria Army has revealed its readiness for the upcoming elections as INEC had initially said that it will be impossible to conduct the election effectively without military presence.
With the uncertainty of outcome in some regions of the country, INEC is not considering postponement in these places. Instead it said it has been working with the military to ensure a smooth process.
“The commission believes that the military is equal to the task. Therefore, with their help, elections will be conducted in all states across the country,” INEC chief press secretary, Rotimi Oyekanmi said.
INEC disclosed that the Nigeria Air Force rendered assistance to the commission during the voter registration exercise by flying some personnel across areas riddled with landmines in Borno state.
The military on the other hand said that they will be professional in discharging their duty as they will not do anything that will compromise the integrity of Nigerian Army.
