WATCH: President Macron honours Mike Adenuga with highest national honour

Billionaire businessman Mike Adenuga has been honoured with the “Commander of the Legion of Honour” by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Macron bestowed the prestigious award on Adenuga at the inuaguration of the new Alliance Francaise, Mike Adenuga Centre in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday.

The President, who has been in Nigeria since Tuesday, said he decided to confer his country’s highest honour on Adenuga because he is “a true role model for Africa” who has contributed immensely to the growth of the African and French economy.

Adenuga becomes the first Nigerian to receive the honour.

Macron hailed Adenuga’s entrepreneurship strides, as well as his promotion of the French language and culture in Nigeria.

He also commended Bella Disu, Adenuga’s daughter who conceived, coordinated and executed the Alliance Française project.

The Globacom founder already has Nigeria highest national honour for a civilian, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), as well as the highest civil award in Ghana, the Companion of the Star of Ghana (CSG).
