WATCH: Osinbajo dismisses rumours of his resignation as propaganda

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has dismissed rumours of his planned resignation as President Muhammadu Buhari’s partner in his quest to lead Nigeria for another four years.

Rumours were rife that the VP was prevented from partaking in Buhari’s meeting with Service Chiefs and some northern governors on the state of security on Tuesday.

Osinbajo has dismissed the reports, saying nothing of such happened. He simply called it opposition’s propaganda.

“They are deliberate propaganda. Today (Wednesday), they’ve been spreading some information around that I’ve resigned,” Osinbajo said.

“They said I didn’t attend a security meeting yesterday. I was too busy in my office. The same security people were meeting with me that same evening. Must I attend every meeting? Can’t the President hold a meeting with the security chiefs without me?

“They said I was so angry that they didn’t bring me to that meeting, that I was excluded, then I resigned! I have not resigned.”

The VP went on to say that it was desperation on the part of the opposition.

“In a final act of desperation, some have resorted to all manners of puerile strategies to win, amongst which is the dissemination of Fake News,” he said.

“I stand firmly with President Muhammadu Buhari and together we will all go higher!”
