WATCH: Locals protest repeated killings by armed bandits in Zamfara

Locals in Tsafe community in Zamfara State have embarked on a protest against incessant killings being carried out by armed bandits.

At least 17 persons were gruesomely killed by the unknown bandits who attacked Magami Village, Faru District of Maradun LGA of the state on Saturday.

A funeral service for the victims was held Sunday afternoon.

The locals complain that the government is not providing enough security for them.

They marched on the streets and blocked vehicles from moving before proceeding to the State secretariat Monday morning.

The state’s acting governor, Sanusi Rikiji described the killings and security situation as “disturbing”.

“It is very disturbing, so distracting the way our people are being killed by terrorists,” Rikiji is quoted by NAN as saying.

“More often than not, we could not even concentrate and face our work, due to pressures of insecurity in our communities.

“We are ever ready to continue to offer any support to security agencies, at whatever cost, in order to address the current security situation in the state,” he added.
