Days after over 10 people were killed in a collapsed building in Itafaaji, Lagos Island, another building marked for demolition has collapsed.

The residential building at Egerton Oke Arin Square, Lagos Island, came crashing down Monday afternoon. A total of four persons have now been rescued from the building.

LASEMA which confirmed that the building had earlier been marked by LASBCA for demolition, said that the demolition started on Sunday (yesterday).

The agency said the collapse occurred just as scavengers attempted to remove the doors on the ground floor while officials were working at the top of the building.

The remaining parts of the building collapsed on the scavengers and four of them were injured. They have been taken to the nearest hospital.
