WATCH: Again, Shi’ites hurl stones at police in third clash in Abuja
Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria have again engaged the police in a face-off in Wuse II, Abuja on Tuesday.
The protesting Shi’ite members were seen hurling stones at the police operatives. They also set a police car on fire.
It is still unclear if there are any casualties.
On Monday (yesterday), the Army said it shot three of the protesters dead during a face-off in Nyanya, Abuja. Three members were also killed by soldiers on Saturday.
The Muslim group, however, claimed that at least 16 of its members were shot at close range on Monday.
Followers of Ibrahim El-Zakzaky had decided to stage a three-day mass protest tagged ‘Arbaeen Symbolic Trek’ in solidarity with their detained leader.
It is not clear if the protest which was initially billed to end Tuesday (today) would continue due to the latest violence.
