US court sentences Nigerian to 4 years imprisonment over N340m email scam

Emeka Ndukwu will serve four years in jail in the United States.

The 46-year-old Nigerian-American has been found guilty of engaging in email scams.

He was said to have defrauded his victims of more than $900,000 (over N340 million).

The FBI said Ndukwu tricked seven companies in the United States and abroad into wiring more than $900,000 into accounts controlled by various co-conspirators.

An accomplice of the Bowie Maryland-based convict, Chuka Mbonu, is said to be at large.

“Ndukwu, a dual citizen of the United States and Nigeria, pleaded guilty in April 2018 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to one count of money laundering conspiracy,” the FBI said in a statement.
