Unknown gunmen abduct business tycoon after night prayer in Kebbi
Some unidentified gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a textile business tycoon identified as Alhaji Murtala Zauro in Kebbi state.
Reports say the business tycoon who owned three of the biggest shops in the central market of the state was abducted after the 8 pm night prayer in his hometown along the Birnin-Kebbi-Argungu road.
One of the family members told newsmen on Monday that Zauro received a message from a small boy that some people were waiting for him in a car and he bundled off as he went out to see them.
“After our night prayer (salat Ishai), immediately he enters his house, just opposite the mosque. He received a message that some people in a Peugeot 406 were waiting outside and that they wanted to see him,” the family member is quoted as saying.
“They sent a boy to call Alhaji Murtala Zauro that they want to see him outside. When he came out to see them, they bungle him into their waiting vehicle and left our village, till now, nobody can account for the whereabouts of Alhaji Murtala Zauro and his mobile telephone has been switched off.”
Kebbi State police spokesperson, DSP Danjuma Possi, confirmed the abduction of the business tycoon and said his team were working to secure his release.
