Nassarawa commissioner’s wives kidnapped by unknown gunmen
Two wives of Nasarawa State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Aliyu Tijani, were on Thursday night abducted by unknown gunmen from his residence in Nasarawa town.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Sadiq-Bello, confirmed the incident on Friday, assuring that the police was on the trail of the kidnappers and would soon apprehend them.
“We are aware of the abduction and as we speak now, we have gotten information about their location and we are closing in on them,” he said.
The traumatised husband told NAN the family has not been contacted by the kidnappers.
An eye witness who gave an account of the incident said that the gunmen numbering about 10 stormed the commissioner’s house in Nasarawa town at about 8p.m, shooting sporadically before making away with the women in their vehicles.
