UNILORIN: “I never slapped SUG president” – embattled lecturer “lies”

University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) lecturer Dr. A. Ajiboye has denied assaulting the school’s student union (SUG) president Lukman Sobowale.
Students were furious after Ajiboye allegedly slapped Sobowale on Monday but the SUG president reportedly displayed a high level of maturity and calmed his colleagues.
The alleged assault took place at the school’s CBT center where Sobowale was helping students who had issues accessing the exam hall.
Students are calling for Ajiboye’s sacking. The lecturer has denied slapping Sobowale.
“My students were supposed to write an exam CAC 204 (Edit: he may have wrongly pronounced ‘CHE 204’,” Ajiboye was quoted to have said.
“I saw a student arguing with the lecturer and I collected his ID card without even knowing he was the students’ union president.
“It was in the process of removing his ID card from his neck that my hand hit his face. I never slapped him,” he said.

UNILORIN sources said students are furious at Ajiboye’s “lies”.
They are also furious with Vice Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali, who reportedly told Sobowale today”
You know, his (Ajiboye’s) coming out to deny the whole thing could be taken as a form of apology.
