U.S, with world’s most confirmed cases, seeks medical professionals from abroad to fight COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic is posing a huge challenge to many nations across the world. The increase in the number of confirmed cases is already overwhelming healthcare workers in high-risk countries.

As of Friday afternoon the number of confirmed cases across the world has surpassed 530,000. The United States, which overtook Italy and China as the country with the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases (over 85,000), announced on Thursday night that it wants to hire medical professionals across the world to fight the increasing number of cases in the country.

The country saw an increase of more than 15,000 cases in one day, according to CNN.

“We encourage medical professionals seeking to work in the United States on a work or exchange visitor, particularly those working to treat or mitigate the effects of COVID-19, to reach out to the nearest embassy or consulate to request a visa appointment,” a statement on the United States department of States website read.
