Two suspected money launderers arrested with $2.8m cash at Enugu airport

Two suspected money launderers were caught with $2.8 million (N1 billion) cash at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, on Thursday.

Ighoh Augustine and Ezekwe Emmanuel were attempting to board an Arik Air evening flight to Lagos with two suitcases containing the money.

The suspects, allegedly working for a company named Bankers Warehouse, confessed that they were in the business of conveying cash for “some notable banks” for over six years.

They claimed to be doing same for a Union Bank branch at New Market, Onitsha, Anambra State, when they were caught.
