Twins returning from visiting widowed mother die in tragic accident
Twins identified as Taiwo and Kehinde Animashaun died on Sunday as the motorcycle that conveyed them reportedly crashed into a stationary truck parked by the roadside.
According to their brother, Afeez Animashaun, the twins and the motorcycle rider all died on the spot.
They were said to be returning home after going to check on their widowed mother when the incident happened.
They had left for home around 9pm on the fateful day, before their motorcycle ran into the truck at Vulcanizer Bus-Stop.
“They both came for the introduction of one of our family members and they went to visit our mother afterwards,” Punch quotes Afeez as saying.
“They left at the same time because they lived not too far from each other. They left around 9pm only for us to get a call an hour later that they were involved in an accident.
“We were told that while they were on their way, the motorcycle ran into a faulty stationary truck that failed to use the C-Caution sign. They and the Okada rider died on the spot.”
The truck driver who was reportedly transporting cassava peels to a piggery in Oke-Aro, was subsequently arrested for not using a caution sign that could have averted the accident.
