“Trump told aides he never wanted to meet someone as lifeless as Buhari again” – Financial Times
When President Buhari visited Donald Trump last April, the United States President was not impressed by his encounter with his Nigerian counterpart, Financial Times reports.
The publication reports that following the meeting, Trump was heard telling his aides that he never wanted to meet “someone so lifeless” like Nigeria’s 75-year-old leader again.
During the meeting, Trump had hailed Buhari’s efforts on fight against corruption and recovered funds, saying that the president has “made tremendous progress”.
“Nigeria has a reputation for corruption but President Buhari has done a lot to cut down on that corruption. Nigeria has made tremendous progress in the fight against corruption,” Trump said at the time.
Trump will receive another African leader, Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta at the White House on Monday (today).
