The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, on Friday, January 27, 2023, nullified the election of Senator Ademola Adeleke as Osun state governor and declared the immediate past governor Isiaka Oyetola as governor.

The ruling is coming exactly two months after Ademola Adeleke was sworn-in as governor on November 27, 2022.

In his ruling, Justice Tetsea Kume, who delivered the majority decision, declared that the Independent National Electoral Commission did not comply substantially with the constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act, the Punch reports.

Kume, who deducted the over-voting observed from the votes scored by the candidates, declared Oyetola winner of the election, having polled 314,921, while Adeleke’s score came down to 290,266.
