Travellers say Port Harcourt International Airport is the worst in the world

There is hope for the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos. It’s not the worst in Nigeria, and certainly not in the world.
Port Harcourt International Airport already clinched that prize.
The airport dusted off awful counterparts from Afghanistan, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and five “other countries like that” to claim the ignoble trophy.
According to survey findings published on October 17, that thing erected in Port Harcourt with the “international airport” label is actually a traveller’s nightmare and a “haven of corruption.”
The survey was conducted by travel website The Guide to Sleeping in Airports.
“We asked travellers to rate their airport experiences based on the services and facilities available within the terminal, cleanliness, customer service, comfort and their overall airport experience,” a statement on the website reads.
At least 26,297 responses were sent in with most of the respondents voting Port Harcourt International Airport the worst of the world.
All the respondents were travellers, the website says.
The website, in unflattering terms, summarised how respondents rated the airport:
The terminal’s unpleasant and unhelpful staff help to earn it this trifecta of atrocious awards. With virtually no seating, broken air-conditioning and a tent for an Arrivals Hall, it was a struggle for many voters to pass the minimum required amount of time here.
However, the website added something to cheer about:
The good news is that some areas of the terminal have been recently renovated, meaning you can expect actual walls, floors and windows.
…and then gave us a spoiler:
Though it is a far cry from reasonable, improvements are being made.
…and (this one was actually included from the beginning of rating:
Voters suggested Port Harcourt Airport should also win the title of most corrupt airport in the world.
“This has to be the most corrupt airport in the world,” the website quoted an unnamed traveller.
“’Bring money’ as they say in PH. It’s a standing joke.”
There was no other Nigerian airport in the top ten of the bad boys; and none among the best of the best.
