TRAGIC! Gunmen shoots House of Reps member’s son dead
A House of Representatives member, Hon. Enitan Dolapo Badru has lost his son to the cold hands of death in London.
The Evening Standard reports that Hon. Badru’s son, Abraham Badru, was found lying lifelessly near his family’s home.
He had been shot by unknown persons late Sunday, shortly after he returned from church.
Abraham, 26, was pronounced dead with his visibly distraught mother by his side.
One neighbour who witnessed the incident said: “As soon as I heard the bang, I knew it was a gunshot. I went to my balcony and saw a man slumped over on the ground at the back of a car.
“There was just one shot and a cry of pain. No speeding scooter and no speeding car.”
Another witness said: “His mother came out and saw him on the floor. It was terrible listening to her collapse crying on the floor. She was just screaming.”
The young man has been described by friends and family as easygoing.
In fact, Abraham had at a time been given a police bravery award for saving a woman from a sex attack.
The Master’s degree holder was described by his father as “quiet and hard-working”.
“A few years ago a girl was raped on the estate and Abraham fought them off. He went to court to testify against them and the police gave him an award,” Hon. Badru said.
Abraham was said to have a fiancee in Nigeria and had also volunteered with the Team Nigeria UK football coaching charity.
The publication said his mother has been inconsolable since the incident.
Police say the shooting was the third in Hackney, London this year. At least 19 young men under the age of 25 have been killed in the capital in 2018.
Police are looking for the culprits.
Abraham’s 62-year-old father, Dolapo Badru, represents Lagos Island I at the House of Representatives on the platform of All Progressives Congress.
