Gunmen murder Reverend Father and young man in Imo state
Rev Fr. Jude Egbuom, the parish priest of St Patrick’s Catholic Parish, Amucha, in the Njaba LGA of Imo state, has been murdered by gunmen. The sad incident took place in Nkwerre Local Government Area of the State on Monday night and the suspected assailants also took his car.
A young unidentified man who was said to have been with him in the car was also murdered.
An eyewitness of the community who reported to Punch Metro said the Priest was attacked around 8 pm after he came out from a barbing saloon around Anara-Nkwerre Road in Nkwerre town.
The eyewitness also said the Rev. Jude had reportedly refused to hand over his car keys to the hoodlums which triggered them into killing him and the young man.
Andrew Enwerem, the Police spokesman of Imo State, confirmed the case and said, “The incident is confirmed. Rev Fr.Jude Egbuom of St Patrick’s Catholic parish Amucha was murdered last night.
“Another person whose identity had yet to be known was also killed by the hoodlums. The priest was in his priestly regalia when they shot him dead.”
He finally added that a Tactical Unit has been deployed to the area by the State Commissioner of Police.
