Confirmed 2019 Election Result: Okorocha fails to deliver Imo for Buhari, as Atiku takes state number 11

Atiku Abubakar has closed the gap in terms of state won after he was declared winner of the presidential poll in Imo State.

Atiku defeated President Muhammadu Buhari by amassing a total number of 334,923 votes compared to the latter’s 140,463 votes.

The total number of 2,037,569 voters were registered in the state while a total of 585,741 were accredited.

The total number of votes cast is 542,777 while the total number of valid votes is 511,586. A total of 31,191 votes were rejected.

Apart from the pre-election projection that Atiku stood a better chance than Buhari to claim the South East states in the poll, the victory is also regarded as a reflection of the people’s dissatisfaction at outgoing governor Rochas Okorocha’s government.

Okorocha had been accused of intimidating the Returning Electoral Officer in the state to ensure he got the Senate seat slot.
