Total package! Adorable Nigerian student is farmer, cook and aspiring historian

The price of garri may fly to the highest heavens, student and young farmer, Ogechukwu Kate won’t be bothered.

“I can’t imagine myself buying 13 cups of garri for N400 when I am physically and mentally fit to go to farm,” Kate posted on Facebook along with photos of herself planting, harvesting and processing cassava into garri.

“Farming is really tough but enjoyable work to do,” she wrote.

The Ebonyi State University (EBSU) student has since gone viral.

“This is becoming serious and scary at the same time,” Kate wrote after realising even journalists were increasingly becoming interested in her apparent love for farming.

Hours after going viral, Kate said she received several messages (some of them from journalists who wanted to feature her on their platforms). She apologised for not being able to respond to all the messages because “I cannot answer everybody”.

We reached out to her. She’s yet to respond. It isn’t easy to go viral!

It seems Kate doesn’t only transform cassava into garri, she cooks well too.

“Specially prepared for my lovely friends. Oya come join me,” she wrote on her wall alongside a photo of good looking local soup sending her followers into an appetizing frenzy.

Some commenters called her “100 yards of wife material.”

“I have found a wife,” one Facebook user said, referring to Kate.

“If she can pray for one hour, she would be the perfect wife,” another user wrote. The user said that in reference to a comment made by popular Nigerian pastor Enoch Adeboye that women who couldn’t pray for one hour at a stretch weren’t fit for marriage.

Kate’s Facebook profile says she’s studying History and International Relations.

“In my next life, I will be a historian because history is the mother of all disciplines,” the adorable lady said in a post in which she threw jibes at Law students.

She said lawyers; without any knowledge of history, philosophy and logic, “are nothing”.

Although Kate says she loves her studies, she registered (in another post) her unhappiness at having to resume school soon. She said she wanted more time to make money (from selling garri? She didn’t say).

There’s a discussion going online now about Kate. Some say young Nigerians (both male and female) ought to learn from the young woman, especially in these hard times.
