Tinubu Signs South-West and South-South Development Commission Bills into Law

President Bola Tinubu has officially signed the South-West and South-South Development Commission bills into law, marking a significant step toward regional development across Nigeria.

The announcement was made by Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, during Wednesday’s plenary session.

“No mechanism is too much to trickle down development and dividends of democracy to the grassroots,” Kalu stated. “With these development commissions, the impact of this administration will be felt directly by the people.”

With this move, all six geo-political zones in Nigeria now have dedicated commissions focused on addressing their unique developmental needs.

This follows a similar action in July 2024, when President Tinubu signed the South-East and North-West Development Commission bills into law.

Each commission will be funded to execute projects tailored to the needs of their respective regions, ensuring a more decentralized and efficient approach to national development.
