Teenager severally raped in Benue by lecturer, son, dies from complications
A 13-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by a lecturer and his son has sadly passed from her complications.
Ochanya had revealed, months ago, how she was severally assaulted by 51-year-old Andrew Ugbokolo, a Head of Department, Catering and Hotel Management at the Benue State Polytechnic.
Andrew’s son, Victor, a final year student of Animal Production at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, also allegedly joined in the act.
Ochanya said her molesters had threatened her not to reveal their acts.
She had been living with the family at their Benue residence, as Andrew’s wife, Felicia Ochiga-Ogbuja, is her cousin.
The victim said both men had been forcing her to bed since she was eight. She developed health complications, particularly Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF), as a result.
The teenager, new reports say, died on Wednesday at a private hospital in Otukpo, Benue State.
Andrew and Victor remain in police custody, even as the lecturer was said to have once pleaded that the “family matter” be settled amicably and out of court.
Hearing on the case will resume on November 5.
