Tailor stabs friend with broken bottle over football match argument
The police, on Wednesday, arraigned a 24-year-old fashion designer, Aliu Azeez, before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stabbing his friend with a broken bottle.
Azeez, a resident of No. 2 Association Avenue, Shangisha, Lagos, is facing one count of assault, but he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Ishola Samuel, told the court that Azeez committed the offence on March 18, at No. 5, Association Avenue, Shangisha, Lagos.
Samuel said Azeez used a broken bottle to stab the complainant, Babatunde Yusuf, all over his hand and body, following an argument over a football match.
Yusuf, according to Inspector Samuel, was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Azeez, who said he was not guilty of the offence, could be sentenced to up to three years imprisonment if found guilty.
The magistrate, Mrs Abina, granted him bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to April 11 for mention.
