Supreme Court Upholds Dismissal of Agboola Ajayi’s Suit Against APC’s Lucky Aiyedatiwa
The Supreme Court has delivered a final verdict on the legal battle surrounding the 2024 Ondo governorship election, affirming the dismissal of a suit filed by Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, challenging the nomination of Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a ruling delivered on Tuesday, a five-member panel of the apex court rejected Ajayi’s appeal, upholding the decision of the Court of Appeal. This judgment solidifies Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy, clearing the way for the APC flag bearer in the state’s gubernatorial race.
Ajayi had sought to challenge Aiyedatiwa’s eligibility, but both the lower court and the Supreme Court found no merit in his case. With this ruling, legal hurdles against the APC’s candidate have been decisively removed, reinforcing his standing in the political contest.
