Supersport Viewers To Enjoy Thrilling Weekend Of Football With Milan Derby And Barcelona’s Tough Clash With Betis

Football fans have reasons to be super excited about the coming weekend with some of the most thrilling games in the Premier League, Spanish La Liga and Italian Serie A to be shown on DStv.

Despite that, there is an upcoming pseudo ‘winter break’ in the Premier League which will see 10 matches spread over nine days to allow each club to give their players some much-needed rest, football lovers will not be starved of live actions from the beautiful game at the weekend.

In one of only four Premier League fixtures this weekend, Manchester City will host West Ham United at the Etihad on Sunday, February 9 (LIVE on SuperSport Maximo and SuperSport 3 at 05:30 PM), following their disappointing 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. While Pep Guardiola’s men have effectively given up on chasing down leaders Liverpool, they are still pushing hard to claim second place ahead of Leicester City.

West Ham have their sights set on Premier League survival under gaffer David Moyes, but they will not fancy the trip to the blue half of Manchester where they have lost four of their last five away matches in the Premier League.

In Serie A, the match that will get the pulse of football fans, racing is the Derby della Madonnina involving Internazionale and AC Milan (LIVE on SuperSport Maximo, and SuperSport 9 at 08:45 PM). The clash of both giant clubs on Sunday, February 9, promises all the fireworks as it remains one of Italy’s greatest football rivalries.

Both clubs have enjoyed very different fortunes thus far in 2019/20, with the Nerrazzuri finding themselves right in the mix for the title race with the likes of Juventus and Lazio. The Rossoneri, on their part, are merely hoping to finish in the top six to salvage what has been an otherwise nightmarish season. Milan will, however, look to veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic whose return to the club has sparked an upturn in form in recent weeks for some magic.

Internazionale coach Antonio Conte will be hoping that his trio of new signings – Ashley Young, Victor Moses and Christian Eriksen – hit the ground running and help his side to the Scudetto in May, starting from Sunday night’s trip to the San Siro.

In Spain, Barcelona has a tough obstacle in their path as they travel to Estadio Benito Villamarin for a clash with Real Betis on the night of Sunday, February 9 (LIVE on SuperSport Maximo 2, and SuperSport 7 at 09:00 PM). Barca are still finding their feet under new manager Quique Setien and looking to shrug off the notion that they struggle away from home

The Catalan club has failed to win any of their last three league clashes on the road, with the latest being a 2-0 loss at Valencia in late January.

Betis, meanwhile, have been unable to beat the top clubs at the Villamarin in recent times, notably losing to Sevilla and Atletico Madrid in this season’s La Liga. The Los Verdiblancos will be fired up for the showdown as they look to avenge a 5-2 defeat at Camp Nou back in August 2019. SuperSport viewers can expect a high-scoring encounter, with the last seven La Liga meetings of Betis and Barcelona producing no less than 36 goals.
