Soldiers “flog tenants mercilessly on landlord’s orders” over N1.3m rent

Three tenants were allegedly beaten mercilessly by soldiers at Lekki Palm City Estate, Ajah on Saturday morning.

The soldiers were said to have besieged the building after one of the tenants, identified only as Ayo, demanded for a part of his N1.3m rent following a robbery attack just days after he moved in.

Ayo had told the agent, who then informed the landlord, identified as Majuka Nnamdi Emmanuel.

The landlord reportedly kicked against the demand, insisting that Ayo can’t get a refund except someone else moves in. The argument for a refund reportedly went on for some time.

The disgruntled tenant was said to have reported the robbery case at the Alagbon police station with no result.

The tenants, however, got a rude awakening on Saturday when some soldiers reportedly ordered them out and beat them mercilessly – allegedly on the order of Majuka.

It wasn’t until one of the tenants fainted that the soldiers retreated, reports say. The tenant was reportedly rushed to the hospital.
