Soldier allegedly breaks corps member’s neck, leaves him battling for survival in Kaduna

Some soldiers at the NYSC camp in Kaduna State have allegedly left a corps member battling for survival at the hospital after subjecting him to brutal beating.

The corps member who is set to complete his youth service programme next month was allegedly beaten after he attempted to excuse himself from the Orientation Camp where he was asked to train current members.

A female soldier reportedly said he couldn’t leave and his explanation that he wasn’t bound by the camp rules was said to have fallen on deaf ears.

The scene attracted another soldier who allegedly kicked the unnamed corps member. He reportedly fell awkwardly and hit his head.

The soldier allegedly proceeded to pull up the already injured corps member with his belt, raising him high before dropping him again. The victim reportedly collapsed and was rushed to the camp clinic, where it was confirmed that he had broken his neck.

He was later rushed to another clinic outside the camp. His fate is still unknown.
