Small Doctor arrested, to be prosecuted for firing bullets that injured four persons
Popular Nigerian singer Small Doctor has been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly being in possession of firearm.
Police authorities also alleged that the singer, real name Adekunle Temitope, threatened to shoot an officer.
Lagos police boss Imohimi Edgal said in a statement on Monday that Small Doctor, along with three others, were riding in an unregistered SUV along Oshodi when they brandished the gun and threatened the officer on duty for standing in their way.
“It was alleged that some unknown men, four of them, in an unregistered green SUV had brought out a gun and threatened a policeman that if he does not leave the road, they will shoot him,” Imohimi said.
The police boss said his men were able to intercept the suspects. They were arrested and taken to the police headquarters for interrogation.
Small Doctor’s accomplices are not named.
Imohimi said the singer had earlier been involved in a similar incident on November 27.
He was said to have fired a live ammunition after a show at the Agege stadium. Four persons were injured in that particular incident, according to Imohimi.
“Small Doctor was arrested and taken to the state CID for questioning. He was alleged to have fired a gun; the pellets from the gun injured four people who were rushed to the hospital,” the police boss said.
He added that the singer will be charged to court for prosecution.
