SHOCKING: Lagos government rescues over 237 abandoned babies

In 2015, reports from the Lagos State Ministry for Youth and Social Development stated it had rescued 149 children. Fast forward 2016, a higher figure has been recorded as revealed by the ministry on Thursday.
The Lagos State commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf at the 2017 Ministerial Briefing of the ministry on Thursday in Ikeja, revealed that the ministry had rescued 237 abandoned babies in 2016. She explained that the abandoned babies comprised 106 males and 131 females.
This year so far 53 babies have been rescued.
Just this week an abandoned baby was found near a refuse dump in the Alagbado area of Lagos as reported by the Guardian.
