SHOCKER! “You would have been dead by now” – Police ASP says he would kill lady assaulted by Inspector
A few days ago, an Inspector of the Nigerian Police, Lawal Murtala, landed himself in trouble when he allegedly assaulted a woman for filming him.
The victim, Bibi Anne, had been left with a badly bruised face, swollen arm, and broken phone.
The state police commissioner Edgal Imohimi had promptly ordered the arrest of Murtala to face possible disciplinary measures.
Murtala is not the only police officer who would assault a citizen for making such daring moves, it appears.
Though Anne had said the Divisional Police Officer at the Dopemu Division, Mary Ayim also supported Murtala and joined in the assault, citizens had found some confidence that such actions were not encouraged by the police with Imohimi’s order that the erring Inspector be arrested.
Another police officer, it has been found out, would do worse than Murtala if he had been in the Inspector’s position.
An Assistant Superintendent of Police, John Samuel, from Mbamnga, Taraba, would kill anyone who dares to film him – so he said.
ASP Samuel made this known in the comment section of Anne’s story posted by Funmi Adewola, a Bring Back Our Girls campaigner, on Facebook.
To succinctly quote ASP Samuel, “You were videoing the policeman so that you will post in the Net (sic), which you have done, if I was there, you will had been death by now. I will change you for being stobonne (sic) to your Elder, and even a police man. Do you have a Prof (sic) that he was beating an innocence person (sic).”
The officer’s poorly constructed sentences aside, the message was very clear. No citizen is safe with police officers like Inspector Murtala and ASP Samuel around!
