Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Accuses Senate President Akpabio of Retaliation Over Rejected Advances
A storm is brewing in Nigeria’s Senate as Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of orchestrating her troubles in the legislative chamber after she allegedly rejected his sexual advances.
In a shocking revelation during an interview with Arise TV on Friday, Akpoti-Uduaghan compared her ordeal to that of a student being punished by a lecturer for refusing to comply with inappropriate demands.
“Mine is the case of a student being punished by a lecturer for refusing to sleep with him,” she said, sparking widespread reactions.
Tensions between the two lawmakers boiled over on February 20 during a heated exchange in the Senate over a controversial seating arrangement. The disagreement erupted when Akpoti-Uduaghan was reassigned to a new seat at the start of plenary, a move she strongly resisted.
The confrontation has added fuel to ongoing debates about gender dynamics and power struggles within Nigeria’s political space.
