Nigerian Senate confirms nominees for North-West, South-East Development Commissions

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the establishment of North West and South East Development Commissions. The confirmation followed a report presented by Orji Uzor Kalu, chair of the Senate’s ad hoc committee on regional developments.

Senator Kalu, representing Abia North, stated that all nominees met the requirements during their screening. The Senate confirmed 14 nominees for the NWDC and 18 for the SEDC.

Lawal Samai’la Abdullahi was confirmed as the chairman of the NWDC, with Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Other confirmed members include Yahaya Umar Namahe, Aminu Suleiman, Ja’afar Abubakar Sadeeq, Yahaya Aminu Abdullahi, Muhammad Ali Wudil, Shamsu Sule, Nasidi Ali, Chukwu Chijioke, Ahmed Mohammed, Ahmed Rufai Timasantyu, Macdonalds Michael Uyi, and Babatunde Dada.

For the SEDC, Emeka Nworgu and Mark Okoye were confirmed as the chair and managing director, respectively.

Other confirmed nominees include Ugochukwu Agballah, Okey Kzenwa, Hyacinth Ikpor, Chidi Echeazu, Ifeanyi Agwu, Nasiru Usman, Hamma Adama, Ali Kumo, Edward David Onoja, Orure Kufre Inima, Daniel Akwari, Joke Adebayo-Chukwuma, Stanley Ohajuruka, Sylvester Okonkwo, Toby Okechukwu, Anthony Agbo, and Clifford Ogbede.
