Senate candidate escapes death days after celebrating late father’s anniversary
Just few months before an election that would determine if she would have a chance to represent the people of her constituency at the National Assembly, Natasha Hadiza Akpoti has narrowly escaped death.
Natasha revealed in a Facebook post Monday morning that she was involved in an accident with members of her team on Sunday.
“All praises to God for saving my team & I from the ghastly accident yesterday,” she shared.
The University of Abuja Law graduate is seeking a seat at the Senate chamber under the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The accident was only a day after Natasha eulogised her late father, Dr. Jimoh Akpoti, on Facebook. Dr. Akpoti had died twenty years ago, on November 3, 1998, aged 49.
“I miss you,” Natasha had written in a post titled: “Father taught me how to die”. The valiant title was an ode to his relentless philanthropic gestures.
“Father taught me how to die young, for at 49, he had lived a full life achieving great heights in philanthropy, medical career and political service to his people,” the 38-year-old Obeiba-Ihima, Kogi State native further wrote.
Hadiza, who is of mixed background (her mother, Ludmila Kravchenko, is from Ukraine), hopes to use some of the virtues learnt from her father to serve the people under Kogi Central constituency.
“Father taught me how to die empty by pouring out to earth his God-given talents living each day as his last with passion for humanity,” she wrote on Saturday.
