Robber terrorising motorists with toy gun on 3rd Mainland Bridge arrested in Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected robber identified as Rilwan Wasiu, who allegedly terrorised motorists at the Adeniji Adele end of the Third Mainland Bridge.
Wasiu allegedly dispossessed his victims of their valuables with a toy gun.
The man who claimed to be 20 years old was arrested last Thursday while fighting his girlfriend.
Police said they saw the suspect beating his girlfriend late at night by the road side.
Police said they had only stopped to intervene in the fight when a gun discovered to be fake fell off Wasiu’s body.
Wasiu allegedly attempted to flee immediately he saw his cover had been blown.
He was promptly arrested and taken to the RRS headquarters where he confessed to being one of a three-man robbery gang.
He told the police that his other gang members include one Salami and another member named Sakiru.
He confessed that their mode of operation was to rob stranded motorists on the bridge at night after they might have worked as bus conductors during the day.
