RECKLESS: Driver blocks faulty trailer with stones, causes accident on Lagos bridge
Many lives were reportedly endangered early Monday morning on Ojuelegba bridge, in the Surulere area of Lagos, when a careless driver allegedly attempted to block his faulty truck’s tyres with stones.
According to a commuter who witnessed the incident, the truck, apparently with a bad brake, had broken down on the bridge and the driver had used stones to block the tyres.
The truck, however, rolled back and hit a white Sienna bus on motion, causing it to skid off the road.
The bus was thankfully prevented from rolling down from the bridge.
“The railings on that bridge need to be fixed,” the witness said.
“To think a small child was in the sienna with her parents. Later they will say Lagos is working, the most important things are ignored,” she added.
Several trucks are guilty of reckless driving, as well as engaging in indiscriminate parking on Nigerian roads.
