Reckitt Benckiser is Proving Their Commitment to a Cleaner and Healthier World

Reckitt Benckiser

Reckitt Benckiser Group Plc is a multinational company headquartered in Slough, the United Kingdom. The company is involved in the manufacturing of health, hygiene, and home products, with a portfolio of brands that include trusted consumer favourites like Strepsils, Dettol, Harpic, Lysol, and several others.

The new coronavirus was discovered in Wuhan, China in November 2019. In the months since then, the virus has spread across the world at alarming rates, causing the World Health Organisation to name it as a pandemic.

As a global leader in health, and to combat the growing trend of fake news and misinformation, Reckitt Benckiser (RB) played its part by providing consumers with access to accurate and up-to-date information on the best ways to protect themselves from the coronavirus. This was done through frequent social media updates, innovative TikTok challenges, and the launch of a dedicated COVID-19 fact site.

Reckitt Benckiser has also committed 32 million pounds to its Access Fund in order to address the fight against COVID-19. This fund has been deployed  to support hygiene education in U.S schools, donating hygiene products to vulnerable and disadvantaged people all over the world, among others.

As respected health organisations around the world touted thorough and regular handwashing as an important step to preventing the spread of COVID-19, the demand for RB’s hygiene products soared.

While keeping up with unprecedented demand for hand sanitisers, wipes, soaps, and disinfectants, the company generally maintained its recommended retail prices, and gave out free products to vulnerable communities around the world, notably partnering with UNAIDS (The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS) to distribute more than 195,000 hygiene packs for people living with HIV/AIDs in the eastern and southern region in Africa, and an additional 25,000 packs supplied to Nigeria and Egypt.
