Real Super Girl: Teenager singlehandedly lifts burning truck off father
19-year-old Charlotte Heffelmire has been honoured for extra-ordinary bravery after she lifted a burning truck off her father.
Last November, her father, Eric, was trying to fix his truck in the family home’s garage when the truck fell on him and caught fire.
But Charlotte, weighing just about 50kg, came to her father’s rescue by hoisting the truck from on top of him, ITV reports.
She reportedly climbed into the burning vehicle and drove it “on its three remaining wheels” away from their Washington house before the truck exploded.
She then went bacck to the house to collect her grandmother and baby niece as the fire raged in the garage.
And the US Air Force Academy student only suffered burns to her hands and feet and an injury to her back.
“I kind of came into the garage and the garage was already on fire and really from there I kind of snapped into that whatever super mode I had at that point and kind of do what I had to do,” she told Fox News.
In recognition of that impossible feat the local fire department, last week, presented Charlotte a Citizen Life Saving Award.
But she doesn’t think she deserves the award.
“They almost made me believe that I deserved it, but I still don’t think I do,” she said..
