Movie actors often get numerous chances to be heroes in movies, but they seldom get the chance in real life.
Oscar winner Jamie Foxx recently got a real life chance to be an hero and he took it.
A pickup truck crashed and caught fire in front of Foxx’s California home with the driver trapped in.
Foxx and an off-duty EMT cut the driver, Brett Kyle, out of his seat belt and dragged him out of the pickup, CNN reports.
“As I’m getting him out, I said, ‘You’ve got to help me get you out because I don’t want to have to leave you,'” Foxx told KCAL.
Fire crews arrived the scene about a minute after Kyle had been dragged out. The fire was fully involved in fire at the time, Ventura County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Mike Lindbery.
“The patient was taken to the hospital with burn injuries. There was no one else in the truck,” Lindbery said.
Lindbery thinks it was a pretty courageous thing to do.
“It’s rare these days that you find someone willing to jump in to help like that,” he said.
