Commuters lament delayed repair of Apapa-Oshodi Expressway
The Apapa-Oshodi Expressway is one of the most important roads in Lagos and commuters plying the road have expressed frustration over snarls of gridlock that has plagued it in recent times.
For some months now, the highway has been undergoing repairs and delays in completion of the project has worsened traffic situations in that axis of the city.
Residents have implored the government to hasten the completion of the repairs in order to relieve them the burdensome experience of sitting through traffic and driving through harrowing potholes.
It was also reported that beyond traffic gridlock, the state of the road has given rise to numerous accidents.
“Tankers are always falling here and it is affecting our business, people who want to buy cars cannot because there is no road to move it out,’’ a car dealer in the axis lamented.
“It is difficult to drive or walk on this road, we need all round quick government intervention here,’’ one interstate trader, Malam Ado Dahiru said.
The government through Mr Adedamola Kuti, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos state has pledged commitment to completing the road construction in this dry season.
