President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, is dead
Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, is dead.
Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, announced Kyari’s death in a Twitter statement shared at 12:44 am on Saturday April 18, 2020.
According to Adesina, funeral arrangements will be announced soon.
Although the cause of his death was not announced by the Presidential media aide, Kyari has been battling COVID-19 after testing positive for the deadly virus on Monday March 23, 2020, days after returning from Germany where he had gone to represent the President.
On Sunday March 29, Kyari, in a statement he signed himself, confirmed that he had tested positive for the deadly virus and revealed how he was fighting the virus.
In the statement, Kyari said he had made his personal care arrangements to avoid burdening the public health system which faces so many pressure.
“On medical advice, I will transfer to Lagos later today (Sunday March 29) for additional tests and observation,” the statement read.
“I have not experienced high fever or other symptoms associated with this new virus and have been working from home.”
