Pres. Tinubu sets security plans In motion to restore power in the north
Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has called on all relevant security agencies to ensure that security is guaranteed for officials looking to remedy the power supply issue plaguing the northern part of the country.
This much was disclosed by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Monday.
Following a meeting with the President at the State House in Abuja, Adelabu informed newsmen that the reason for the North’s power outage was a faulty transmission line.
He noted that the repairs to this line should take no more than 3-5days.
Adelabu, however, lamented that insecurity in the affected part had rendered any intervention void.
According to the Minister, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has been mandated to ensure security measures is put in place ahead of the arrival of personnel to fix the issue.
“Fixing a transmission line should take three to five days, assuming you work under standard temperature and pressure and there are no security threats, ensuring your safety in the area.
“Why it has escalated to this level is that we have not been able to guarantee the security of the lives of those who will work, but Mr. President has assured me that he has also instructed the NSA, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, and the Chief of Air Staff to provide the required security for those who will fix the damaged line,” Adelabu said.
Neusroom gather that states like Kaduna, Kano and otehrs have been suffering power outages due to illegal activities of vandals.
