NHRC Knocks Nigerians Urging ‘Old’ Soyinka and Falana to Protest Against Tinubu
Rights group, the Nigerian Human Rights Community (NHRC), opines that Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, and human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana, are now too old to be leading anti-government protests.
The Group stated this opinion in a statement released during the weekend.
Their reaction comes after Nigerians took to social media to call on the two to lead protests against the present administration of President Bola Tinubu over the bad state of the economy.

Reacting to these calls, the Group knocked these young Nigerian critics for their show of “ignorance,” while arguing that the two figures have done enough in the fight against injustice in Nigeria.
“We wish to remind these people, mostly young people, that their actions constitute a drawback to the rich heritage of democratic struggle the two figures represent in the history of Nigeria,” the Group’s statement read.
The Group’s stance on the duo’s involvement in any protests has, however, met, heavy criticism from Nigerians on social media.
Users on X laughed off the Group for saying the duo are now too old to be engaging in protests.
Some reminded the group of how Wole Soyinka, in particular, actively protested against the governemnt of the then President Goodluck Jonathan just a few years ago.
“Was Soyinka young when he was walking the streets of Lagos in protest against Jonathan,” one User asked on X?
