Policeman killed, scores injured as OPC, cult group clash in Ogun

A clash between members of the Odua People’s Congress (OPC) members and the Aye Cult group on Monday has reportedly led to the death of at least five persons, including a policeman.

The clash occurred at Ijebu Igbo area of Ogun State.

Several persons were also reported to have been severely injured in the clash.

Residents have reportedly been forced to stay indoors to avoid being hit by stray bullets as sporadic exchange of gun shots rented the area.

Reports say the killing of the police officer had also triggered massive arrests of people suspected to be members of both groups.

About six vehicles were alleged to have been vandalized too.

Unconfirmed reports say the clash erupted as a result of money shared by the Senator representing Ogun East, Sen. Buruji Kashamu when he visited the community on Sunday.
