Police refuse to release Dino Melaye despite meeting bail condition
The police is yet to release Dino Melaye after a court ruled on Friday that the senator be granted bail on the grounds of health challenges.
Dino was granted bail on the condition that he provides three sureties who each have property in Abuja and also provide a bail bond signed by the Clerk of the National Assembly.
Despite meeting all the conditions of bail on Monday, the police disclosed that he will not be released based on new charges brought up against him.
The senator is being accused of lying against the police for tweeting that operatives laying siege at his residence were trying to plant weapons to implicate him.
The police said that the court order is being disregarded based on this latest information.
Dino responded to the decision by accusing the police of mocking the judiciary by filing a new charge to a court that it has refused to obey its bail order.
