Police orders arrest of four officers for reckless shooting

Four police officers who allegedly fired bullets that hit a security expert, Tunde Adeparusi, have been identified and arrested.

Adeparusi had been hit and injured when a bullet pierced through his car on his way to Murtala Mohammed International Airport last Friday.

The officers, said to be chasing some suspects, allegedlt broke the barrier at the airport tollgate and fired shots.

Lagos State police boss, CP Edgal Imohimi, yesterday ordered the arrest of the officers.

They have been identified as: Inspector Christian Offor, Inspector Kingsley Umeji, Sergeant David Eguavoen, and Sergeant Paul Ebo.

Edgal said the policemen are under investigation and if the allegation against them is established, they will be marched before the Command’s Provost for their orderly room trials.

The police boss promises that the outcome of the trial will be made public and reiterated that belligerent policemen who have refused to key into the professional ethos of the force will continue to be disciplined.
