Police nab 23 suspected cultists during initiation in Ogun
Twenty-three suspected members of a cult group have been arrested by the police in Ogun.
Police allege that the suspects were preparing to begin initiation rites when they were arrested at Ilaporu, Awa-Ijebu, in Ijebu North LGA of the state on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspects had come in from different areas such as Oru-Ijebu, Ago-Iwoye and Ijebu-Igbo, to initiate new members and cause terror within the Ilaporu community.
The police acted on a tip-off and arrested the suspects at the venue of the initiation.
Oyeyemi said they would be transferred to the ‘Anti-Cultist and Anti Kidnapping Section’ for investigation.
