Police IG Blames The Numerous Checkpoints In South-East On High Crime Rate
December 17, 2019
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has responded to the burning questions on why there are so many police checkpoints towards the Southeastern part of the country.
He explained that a large number of checkpoints in the Southeast are due to some volatile security challenges in the region.
Although many have called for the dismantling of the majority of the checkpoints which have become avenues for extortion, Adamu argued against reducing the presence of the security operatives.
“The checkpoints were based on the security assessment in the zone, and they would not be removed, for now,” he said.
