Police arrests two alleged cultists for chopping off man’s wrist in Enugu
Police operatives from Enugu State Police Command have arrested two suspected cultists in an overnight raid in Emene area of Enugu metropolis.
The two suspects were busted in their hideout on Wednesday night and the wrist of a man that they severed was recovered with two axes and a black cap.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the command, SP Ebere Amaraizu said in a statement on Thursday that the victim whose hand was chopped off by the suspects has been identified as one Chijioke Chioha.
He disclosed that some cultists had been involved in a fight over an unknown issue on March 5 around Eke Obinagu junction within Emene area which led to so many injuries.
The victim who confessed of being an ex-cultist said he was called by a certain individual who is believed to be the cult leader in the area for some peace talks. He revealed that he decided to honour the invitation only for three men to suddenly attack him and cut off his hand while he was waiting for a tricycle that will take him to the venue of their meeting.
SP Amaraizu said that the two suspects that were arrested in connection to the attack were members of a cult group known as Junior Aieyes confraternity.
He further stated that the police is currently undertaking a thorough investigation to get to the root of the incident.
