Man kills his sick elder brother because of rising cost of medical bills

A 40-year-old man named Raphael Izuchukwu has been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command over the alleged murder of his 46-year-old brother.

A statement released by The Police Public Relation Officer of Enugu State, SP Ebere Amaraizu, on Wednesday said, the incident happened around August 3.

The PPRO also said that the preliminary investigation done by the Police found that Raphael killed his older brother in the early hours of August 3 and subsequently buried him.

The suspect according to preliminary investigation murdered his brother after claiming that his brother had been sick for long and there was no fund to continue the treatment. He was however arrested by the Police following a tip-off.

SP Amariazu said, “The sleepy and calm community of Ugwuagbo-Inyi in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State was thrown into mourning as the news of the killing and burying of a brother by another brother was released to the members of the public.

“It was gathered that one Raphael Izuchukwu from Ugwuagbo-Inyi community had, on that fateful day, killed his elder brother identified as one Chizoba Ogbonna-Izuchukwu and went ahead to bury him.

“Full-scale investigations have commenced as the suspect is now helping the police in their investigations.’’
