Police arrest 4 for kidnapping, selling 2-year-old boy for N500,000 in Benue

Four suspected baby kidnappers have been arrested by the police in Benue for selling a two-year-old boy for a sum of N500,000.

Police spokesperson in Benue, DSP Moses Yamu, told newsmen while parading the suspects at the olive headquarters in Makurdi on Tuesday, that the command investigated the report of a missing child, Bemdoo Ajekwe.

Dsp Yamu said investigation led to the arrest of two suspects, 32-year old Joy Onyeabor and 29-year old Lucy Doosur.

He said both suspects confessed that the child was kidnapped at North Bank area of Makurdi, on October 10, while he was with his 7-year-old brother. They said they took him to Abia state.

The Police spokesperson further added that the suspects also confessed that they sold the boy for a sum of N500,000 to one Unwa Chibueze and Elizabeth.

Two other suspects, Friday Orinya, and Sunday Udoh, were arrested.

Ajekwe was resued on October 23 and has been reunited with his family.

Police say the suspects will be charged to court after further investigation in concluded.
